Mr Ahmed is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon based at the Royal London Hospital and Associate Dean of Bart’s Medical School. He specialises in colorectal cancer and has pioneered single incision laparoscopic colorectal surgery (virtual scarless surgery). From 2010 to 2015 he was the lead clinician and multi-disciplinary team lead for colorectal cancer at Barts Health NHS Trust. He is also a CQC specialist advisor in general surgery.
He was programme director for core surgical trainees for North East London (2012–2013), Tutor in Surgery (2011–2013) and was awarded the Silver Scalpel award in 2015 as the best national trainer in surgery by the Association of Surgeons in Training. He was appointed as an honorary professor at The University of Bradford in May 2017. He is currently serving as an elected member of council of the RCS and has been the ISTP Clinical Lead since 2014
