If you have been offered a post and require GMC registration, you can apply to be sponsored by us through our GMC Sponsorship Scheme.

No. To be eligible for ISTP, you must either be working within or a member of an ISTP Partner Institution. However, if you have been offered a suitable NHS post in the UK and require sponsorship to the GMC medical register, you can apply for this through our GMC Sponsorship Scheme.

It is a Tier 5 visa requirement that doctors wishing to enter the UK via this visa route have had their post approved as containing sufficient training by the local Postgraduate Deanery. This applies to all Tier 5 visa applications through the ISTP and GMC Sponsorship Scheme.

No. The GMC does not allow us to sponsor applicants to medical register before they have been offered a suitable post that provides sufficient clinical training.
