Fazal Ali
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon – International Surgical Training Programme (ISTP)
Mr Ali specialises in Knee Surgery. He is actively involved in training and was voted South Yorkshire Orthopaedic Trainer of the Year on five occasions between 2005 and 2011. He was given a life-time award for training by the South Yorkshire training scheme in 2012 and was nationally recognised by BOTA as one of the top trainers in the UK in 2011 and 2012. In 2017 he was honoured by the South Yorkshire Rotation by the creation of an annual award: The ‘Fazal Ali Award for Academic Excellence’. Again in 2018 he was ‘Trainer of the Year’, this time for East Midlands. He serves as a senior examiner in T&O for the JCIE and JSCFE. He is Head of Question writing for T&O. Mr Ali has been instrumental in the development of a training rotation within the Yorkshire region for orthopaedic ISTP trainees from Sri Lanka, Jamaica, India and Egypt.
