Syed Waquar Yusuf
Consultant Vascular Surgeon – International Surgical Training Programme (ISTP)
Mr Yusuf is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon and an Honorary Reader. He introduced endovascular aortic surgery and carotid surgery under Local Anaesthesia to Sussex and helped develop the regional vascular service. He played a pioneering role in the development of endovascular aortic aneurysm repair, and awarded a Hunterian Professorship in 1999. Despite dealing with the most complex aortic cases, he has maintained one of the best outcomes in the UK. Mr Yusuf has served in a number of roles for the RCS including Tutor in Vascular Surgery, Director of Vascular Courses, Member of the Court of Examiners, Professional Affairs Board (South East) and AAC. He has served the President of Brighton MedChi Society. He is an elected council member and Trustee of the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland and a member of the Education Committee. He leads the surgical module for Brighton & Sussex Medical School.
